The Big Influence to Include students´ Participation in our Discussion Classes

These articles “10 Benefits of Getting Students to participate in Classroom Discussions,” and "Increase Student Interaction with "Think-­Pair­ Shares" and "Circle Chats” are very meaningful and interesting for me because explain us how to create activities in which students interact with other classmates to understand a topic in the like manner, explain the successful students can obtain when they are asked to participate in discussions since they improve their speaking and the vocabulary and they feel more comfortable when they start listening other´s point of view .


In the first article, the author claimed about the benefits of student’s participation in classroom discussions. Something that I learned from this article is that by listening how students express their ideas, we as teachers can identify the areas where students need to be reinforced and at the same time is easier to realize in what part we should emphasize takin,g into account . Furthermore, when students give us a wrong answer it is an indicator that students did not understand the topic of the

class.

In the same way, the second article provides two activities that promote participation, which are “Think Pair Shares” and “Circle Chats”. What I like the most from this article is the facts that author explain in clear way the steps of these activities, something that results very helpful at the time to do these activities with students. In conclusion, as a teachers we need to look for strategies for our students in order that they understand, interact, analyze, and produce the language.

Using Project in Our Classrooms an Awesome Benefit

The articles for this week show us how teachers can help student's learning by using project in the process.

Something I learned, and I want to share with my colleagues is that projects play an important role in the language learning of students because of the influences to feel interest, and motivated to learn, and I consider that this kind of method is one of the most effective to teach a language because it involves a multi-skill that helps students with what they need. Teachers can increase the knowledge of students by doing these kind of projects because students feel confident, attract, and their motivation increase with this method. A quote that I liked is "The benefits of project work are maximized because students are actively engaged in information gathering, processing, and reporting over a period of time", it means that with project we are making students to do those things at the same time, and that sometimes, it is difficult that students do those things at the same time.



In conclusion, I would like to invite the futures teachers, to involve students with the projects in order to help them to improve, and learn a language. If I should let a project to students with grammar, and including technology I let them a video in which they have to explain a topic like “Present Progressive". They should make the video explaining everything about it, and giving examples. This could be a good project because they going to understand better and reinforce others students.

The Cellphone as a Great Tool in a Second Language classroom

The article I read this week was “Twenty Ideas for Using Mobile Phones in the Language Classroom” I really love this reading because help us with a diverse advices of how to apply cellphone in our classes teaching a second language inside and outside of the classes.



The use of mobile phones in classrooms brings a numerous of advantages since students can work and develop at the same time the 4 skills. Considering, this some students can be asked to record a conversation, in addition; they can write on some note and make some vocabulary flashcards as well as reading because there are many websites where we can find free books to read.etc



Without doubt here we have a lot of ways to use the mobile phone and I strong believe that is something very meaningful and helpful because as we know cellphones are everywhere and anyone has access to them due is a device that offers a variety of advantages and it does not require a different software nor hardware to get a connection to them being a cheap accessory in these days in which everybody knows how to use it.

The article I read this week was "Online Collaborative Writing Using Wikis" this article is very useful because explain how to encourage students trough the writing skill using an amazing tool called Wiki. Wiki is a wesite where everybody can make use of it; editing anytime someone wants.

The article demonstrates the big potencial that wiki has in promoting collaborative writing by learners out of class.


As a teacher is a big challenge to achieve the students get the writing as a habit and not an obligation in what they just do it because is graded.We can not forget that students see the writing as something uninteresting and very difficult to do it, so Now that we have been reading week by week many articles about how to improve and motivate students in this area we know many advantageous tools that we can apply and integrate in our future classes.


Now that I currently use blogs I can affirm that all of this strategeries are vere meaningful and useful for both to students and for teachers.To conclude, as I told you at the beginning of this paragraph in our day we can motivate students in order to make the writing process easily with the internet tools.

The Importance of Learning Vocabulary to Speak a Second Language.

This week I read these 2 awesome articles “Using Technology to Assist in Vocabulary Acquisition and Reading Comprehension (TESL_TEFL)” and “Online English-English Learner Dictionaries Boost Word The part that caught my attention from this article was the vocabulary thanks to its importance in the learning process since without sufficient vocabulary students cannot understand and express themselves in what they want to say. The article explains the great aid of several importan features that were designed to help students to learn new words.

The other artice also mentions, the numerous of advantages that brings to enhance vocabulary with the help of technology.It is important to remeber that when people want to speak they need to get an extensive vocabulary in order to have a fluent speech.The author says that the way in which people learn new vocabulary and the placement of the words is by reading and understanding Vocabulary is playing an important role in our lives, and the articles give us many dictionaries that can be used with students in the way of learning in the EFL/ESL classroom. Today, learn vocabulary and reading acquisition technology is better when we teach students because we can make use of the media to develop better learning. As teachers we need to know that teaching vocabulary is not only words and meanings is at the same time apply phrases and order it. eachers should guide and encourage students to look up words in the dictionary, if they learn the word of a topic that can be recognized by a long time.to sum up, I really loved this quote " "vocabulary is one of those things where the rich get richer" for me means that although, there is some knowledge as more vocabulary we learn as better results we are going to obtain when speaking .

Motivate Students in The Habit of Writing and Literature.

Week : 7 This week I read the articles “Using Internet-Based Children's Literature to Teach EFL (TESL_TEFL)” and “Using the Internet in ESL Writing Instruction (TESL_TEFL).”

Something I learned and that I immediately wanted to share with all of you was about the use of technology in skills such as writing, and reading. The article analyzes the big importance the internet bring us as a teacher helping as a teaching medium over the students are taught how to write different writing genres.

In this article is shown how to apply writting skills in order to make the writing more attractive, and authentic.

The author says something that caught my attention, he mentions that we have to take into account these strageries and not just spend the time having fun or playing but teache them how to improve this area of writing.

The article encourages teachers to look different strageries to make learners to get involve in this skill that is not easy to to apply it because for some students is boring and for others is a big challenge that makes them get frustrated..for writing is an important issue in which we can keep students interested using technology. Websites, blogs, e-mails, and letters are strategies to make students feel attracted to the writing skill. We can start by let them writing something about their, describe things, make cards, etc. We have the creativity to motivate students to learn writing in many ways by using technology. Remember that as a teachers we have the control to make a good use applying this beautiful and helpul tool called internet.

Finalley,the other article makes reference in the big importance that reading has. As everybody knows, nowadays, students are not interested in read on contrary, they prefer to read just the summary of books or whatever thing they have to read.The author says that our labor as a teachers is to look for methods to make students get interested in the literature. teachers have the challenge to create a habit in children, teens and adults. this could be with the help of animations, colors and all that can catch their attention.

Internet and All its Benefits in Teaching not only in some Skills, but all of them.

                                            

The reading for this week was one more time very attractive and helpful for me. I consider this article, very important because as everybody knows technology is almost in everywhere, and is becoming every time more useful and a great tool in people´s life. For instance, talking about teaching a foreign language the internet provides a variety of different activities and programs in which not only teachers but also students can take advantages to improve in the 4 skills ( speaking, listening, writing and reading) The use of internet has become an approach to second language or foreign language education. We can find a lot of information about anything, including of course education on the web. The article Expose specifically about all the materials and resources both, teachers and students can find and use for speaking and listening .

The article emphasizes that, by using internet teachers and learners can create meaningful interaction and communication. Indeed, communication can greatly enhance the language learning experience .

In the reading is mentioned a lot of ideas to put in practice the improvement of these two skills, speaking and listening as for example; students can have access to audios or videos files that transmit live broadcast .

 the article  exhibits diverse programs  to interactive audio communication activities on the internet. It is very accessible since there are a lot of that are available for free downloads.

To sum up, what I learned  in this valuable reading was that computers has a big influence about how teach teachers and how students learn and it says that the profession could be affected but that is not true because always will be necessary the methods and  principles to get the successful.

Developing Critical thinking in students with the use of technology.

The Reading for this week was very attractive for me since expose the concern not only about how to get students to think in a critically way, but also about how we can help as a future teachers to make the students feel that interest and activate them with the purpose to help them to be able to conduct to analysis, draw accurate conclusions and at the same time express their thoughts when they asked.

In addition, something that really caught my attention when I was reading this article was that it mentioned a very important point of how human beings learns spontaneously when they try to deal with problems they worry .To clarify this point it said that people develop an intrinsic interest that refers to the behavior that is driven by internal rewards. In other words, involves performing an action an action because you enjoy it, not because you are trying to earn something; for instance, a grade or just to pass the exam.

 One phrase that really liked me about the author of the reading was “we should do less telling and more asking” because that means that as future teachers we have to take the time to teach to our students how to achieve this because we are there like a guide for them.

Another key point that the author made reference was the big important technology has as we already know. It said that using computers can be a great resource to help us to advance with the accomplishment relate with the objective about thinking critically.

To sum up, the definition of critical thinking is to acquire the ability to create, organize ideas, analyze facts, and defend opinions, evaluate arguments and solve problems, but we have to take into account that human beings are emotional and rational so, we as a future professors we  have the labor to be creative to active the student´s brain in order they can engage and express their ideas, for example, in a real situation and for that we have in our hands a great tool that is the computer that help us to be creative to catch the attention to the students since, not everybody learns the same way some people learns auditory and others visual

The first purpose about the article, of this week is to shows educators a different way to apply the internet in English Language Teaching (ELT). At the same time it make reference in how meaningful the use of technologies brings for learners and teachers. Adding ideas for the use of internet concepts when schools have insufficient or not access to it all.


The reading mentions something very crucial for me, because it says that thanks to the use of technologies, the learners increase the motivation, cut down the anxiety and develop the learner autonomy.


It is extremely essential, to make allusion to all the other benefits of using the internet has, for instance, it says that it can be used to facilitate analysis, to give advice, to inspire creative not only in students but with professors too, and also with communication, helping students to interact with real people thus, the learners can improve their accents pronunciation and learn new vocabulary; All of this due to the support of the great quantity of programs that exist in these days.


On the other hand, it makes reference in the reason about why the use of internet would not be effective in ELT, and it says that considering that around the world there are still people who have limit the internet access so, that will make very difficult to achieve.





To finish, let me tell you that I really enjoyed reading this article “Call me.. Maybe: a Framework for Integrating the Internet into ELT” I learned a lot of about the importance of why consider internet integration in education being aware of the disadvantages.

Podcasting the Innovate Method to Improve Listening Strategies Courses.

This article was very interesting and important for me because give a variety of insights that we can use as a future educators in listening courses. It mentions that even though, CALL is used to supplement instruction or to provide additional practice to the students, Podcasting is a collection of files (usually a video and audio).This is   a new method in which nowadays is seen as a potential resource for all the professors thus, helping students as an extra practice not only in classroom but also in their houses.

The reading remarks that although, in these days technology is everywhere; there are many people who have problems with the lack of support or contact with the computer technology. According to what I read before there was a disconnection between what students were doing with CALL and about what they were doing in the previous classes so, due to this the article make inference in all the benefits and advantages that using a podcasting has .

Something very relevant for me about The second article Blending Technologies in ESL course:  was that technology is becoming one of the best partner of education. But we as a teachers have the responsibility to make a good use of this blend in our class with our students. That´s why the use the podcast inside and outside the classroom is very useful to improve not only the listening skill but the vocabulary and pronunciation.

§  Week : 2  The big importance to apply the  Learning autonomy process with ICTs in teaching .

Something I learned from this article and that every teacher should be aware is that students are not robots but people who are with us in order to learn, so this article makes reference in the big  labor we have in our hands and the big importance the ICTs tools have.

The article says that  some students  were guide to through decision making, independent practice and the development of cognitive process to study English  by using this tools. This part was really impress for me because it says all the benefits that leave students work by their owns have  and that way they can be autonomous.

I really liked this article since  I could realize the value the use of  portfolio brings to students due to as a teacher you can see the student´s outcomes and reflections  and  also now I have another point of view about why during this course we are going to use a portfolio.

 I could pay attention in something that was really important  for me and was  what one of the author says  about the technology, he mentions that  technology  is not the solution to make students be autonomous nor  that they  will achieve the self-monitoring and control but he comments  that is one of the tools that helps in a considerable way  to accomplish this goal with the learners.
